Day 1 – Sunday 20th July, 2025 - Cultural Tour - Not included in basic Conference Cost. 

 

During this day we will visit two world heratige sites: The Hiroshima Peace Musueam and Miyajima Island.

 

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum

The Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is dedicated to documenting the events and aftermath of the atomic bombing on August 6, 1945. It is part of the larger Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park. The museum offers a poignant and educational experience, with exhibits that include personal belongings of victims, photographs, and multimedia displays detailing the devastation caused by the bomb. The museum's mission is to promote peace and raise awareness about the consequences of nuclear warfare. A key feature of the museum is its focus on the human stories behind the tragedy, making it a powerful symbol of peace and reconciliation.

 

Miyajima Island (Itsukushima)

Miyajima Island, also known as Itsukushima, is a famous island located in the Seto Inland Sea near Hiroshima. It is renowned for its Itsukushima Shrine, a UNESCO World Heritage site, which is famous for its "floating" torii gate that appears to hover over the water during high tide. The island is considered sacred, with a long history as a site of Shinto worship.

Day 2 – Monday 21st - half day cultural tour & Welcome Reception

Take the Shinkansen and travel at up to 200 mph from Hiroshima to Tokyo, view the scenary as it passes by, while enjoying a first class carriage.
